Time Commitment: Thursdays from 11:00-14:00 2x per month of 6 hours in total
Overview: We are seeking a motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a composting volunteer. You will work with other volunteers to ensure that all materials are properly processed, and you will have the opportunity to share your knowledge and expertise with others. Composting is an important aspect of sustainability, as it helps reduce waste and greenhouse gas emissions, and promotes healthy soil. By working together to compost our food scraps and yard waste, we can make a positive impact on the environment and our community. As a composting volunteer, you will play a crucial role in helping us achieve our sustainability goals.
Responsibilities:
Assist with the collection and processing of compost materials
Help educate the community about the benefits of composting
Share your knowledge and expertise with others
Work with other volunteers to ensure the smooth operation of the composting program

According to Project Drawdown, “[Composting] converts organic waste into soil carbon, averting landfill methane emissions in the process. […] Composting could avoid methane emissions from landfills equivalent to 1.13–1.40 gigatons of carbon dioxide by 2050. That total excludes additional gains from applying compost to soil.”
