Climate Meetups

Connecting for the Climate

Connecting for the Climate

Picture
Our Climate Garden Gatherings are a series of meetings that take place in our garden on a regular basis, and provide a forum for people to come together and think about various aspects of the climate crisis, including economic, political, and philosophical.

These gatherings include bi-monthly Climate Conversations, the Climate Book Club, Philosophical Chats, and the Climate Fresk, which is a 3 hour crash course in the causes and effects of climate change.

Our goal is to foster critical thinking and build a community of individuals dedicated to taking action on the climate crisis.

Climate Garden Gatherings

Our Climate Conversations take place every other month for individuals who are passionate about climate action and wish to connect with like-minded people in an informal and welcoming atmosphere.

During the event, participants can chat, network, and exchange ideas about the climate crisis and how we can make a difference. Whether you're a seasoned activist or just starting to learn about climate change, everyone is welcome.

To keep the event consumption-free and low impact, we ask that attendees bring their own favorite drinks. There will be a casual introduction round, so everyone has a chance to introduce themselves and get to know one another. No prior knowledge is required to participate.

If you'd like to join, please check the calendar for upcoming dates! Events

Climate Fresk

Picture
The Climate Fresk is an interactive and innovative workshop that offers a crash course in climate change, raising awareness and understanding about this important topic. Based on the IPCC report, it explains how the climate functions and the consequences of its disruption, giving participants the opportunity to learn a lot in a very short period of time. Those new to climate change will learn about the topic, and experts will brush up and strengthen what they already know.

Here's how the game works:
  • The workshop is based on a 42-card game. Each card represents an element, a cause, or a consequence of climate change.
  • As a team, guided by your facilitator, you are to find the cause-effect relationship between the different components of climate change. Collective intelligence will get you from one deck of cards to the next!
  • This step-by-step reconstruction provides the keys to understanding the complexity and develop an overview of climate change.
  • After the reconstruction, participants are given a chance to digest their learnings through a creative activity, and also take time to debrief and share.

Climate Book Club

Picture
Climate Book ClubOur Climate Book Club is a chance to delve deeper into the issues surrounding the climate crisis. Rather than quickly reading multiple books, we select just 2-3 books each year that focus on solutions to the climate crisis and read them in chapters over the course of several months. These discussions provide a forum for critical thinking and exploration of various perspectives on the climate crisis. We announce each new book several weeks in advance.

Our Current Book Club Selection

In December, we started reading Earth for All: A Survival Guide for Humanity.

It is an initiative of the Club of Rome, which made the famous report, "The Limits to Growth" exactly 50 years ago.

Even if you are too late to join us this time, we highly recommend checking it out!
