Kaskantine

Learning Community
At Kaskantine, we are committed to community-based climate solutions and providing a space to connect.

As an off-grid organization, we are able to utilize plots of land that are temporarily available. Throughout our history, we have occupied four different locations, and currently, we can be found in Amsterdam-Slotervaart. Here, we have transformed eleven shipping containers and two greenhouses into a place for meeting, growing, eating, and collaborating.

Our programs and activities are aimed at empowering individuals and communities to take action on climate change and find joy in the process. From urban gardening, composting, and plant-based cooking to saving and redistributing food waste, building off-grid structures, and producing renewable energy, we offer a wide range of opportunities for hands-on learning and creating connections in our neighbourhood.

Join us and be part of the movement towards a more sustainable, connected and resilient future.

Can we be off-grid?

Going off-grid is one of the few ways left for citizens to get access to land in the city! By being off-grid we are able to use plots of land that are only temporarily available or have low market value.
We need space and freedom to be able to make ourselves future proof and climate resilient. Some questions we've asked include:
  • How to green the city?
  • How to produce food and protect nature in the city?
  • How to store and use rainwater?
  • How to produce your own energy?
  • How to close resource cycles locally?
We've found some interesting solutions that we want to share and build with you!

Deze vrijdag 17 maart 2023 hebben we bij De Voedselkringloop in totaal 20 kratten: aardappelen, druiven, raket en brood
